What types of Health
Insurance are available?
- HMO (Health Maintenance
Organization): Your medical services are provided by
a predetermined network of doctors and hospitals. HMOs have no
deductible and require only a small co-payment for services.
- POS (Point-Of-Service): An
HMO option which allows your primary doctor to refer you to another
care provider outside the HMO network with little to no additional
costs.
- Indemnity
(Fee-For-Service): No restrictions apply to any
doctor or hospital. Claims are submitted to your insurer and you
authorize the doctor or hospital to collect fees. Although the plan
is the most flexible, costs associated with Indemnity Insurance are
reasonably higher.
- PPO (Preferred
Provider Organization): Your medical services are
provided by a network of "preferred providers"
predetermined by your insurer. A small deductible and co-payment
usually applies. You can use an outside provider but will be subject
to a higher deductible and co-payment.
